As knowledge of the climate crisis grew, businesses and individuals wanted to do something about it but there were very few ways people could make a meaningful impact.
 
So here at the NWT we’ve made making an impact possible with our corporate days out.
 
Embark on a full or half day through a native Irish forest near you and learn about the trees, plants and wildlife with our qualified zoologists.
 
An educational, enjoyable and memorable excursion for your company.

Woodland Workday:
Guided Woodland Walk

Embark on a scenic woodland walk that immerses you in the beauty and tranquility of nature. As you walk through the forest trails, discover the rich variety of plants and wildlife that call these woods home.

​Along the way, our guide will share fascinating insights about the ecosystem, including how trees interact with their environment and the importance of preserving these vital habitats.

Tree Planting

Get hands-on with nature during our seed collection activity. You’ll help gather seeds from native plants, playing a crucial role in promoting natural regeneration and biodiversity.

 

This fun and educational task will teach you about the various types of seeds and their importance in sustaining healthy ecosystems. This activity is dependant on the season and location.

Woodland Workday:
Nursery Planting

Contribute to the future of our woodlands by planting young trees in our nursery.

 

This activity not only helps in nurturing future generations of trees but also provides you with insights into proper planting techniques and care. You’ll leave with a sense of accomplishment, knowing that you’re actively participating in the growth and restoration of our forests.

Their Schedule

9:00 AM - 9:30 AM: Arrival and Welcome

Brief introduction to the day’s activities.

 

9:30 AM - 10:00 AM: Nature Walk to Site

Enjoyed sights along the way, including: Dog violets and primroses Blackthorn in full bloom Patches of bluebells Pedunculate oak and ancient hawthorn trees

 

10:00 AM - 10:30 AM: Site Briefing

Overview of the woodland’s history and conservation plans.

 

10:30 AM - 12:00 PM: Tree Planting Activity

Planted approximately 100 trees (birch, hazel, hawthorn, rowan). Participants can name their trees.

 

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM: Picnic Break

Enjoyed lunch by the biodiversity-rich ponds, observed wildlife, including mallard duck eggs in nesting boxes.

 

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM: Socialising and Reflection

Shared experiences and connected with fellow participants.

 

2:00 PM - 3:00 PM: Wrap-Up

Closing remarks and feedback session.

 

The group chose to end up the day in a local pub with a drink and snacks.

Woodland Workday information:

What to expect

Be prepared to do some walking and digging in rugged terrain with some uphill walking (depending on the woodland). Be ready to learn a lot about nature, especially local Irish Biodiversity. Be prepared to roll up the sleeves and help out in protecting our Native Woodlands.

We provide

On-site Paramedic: Your safety is our priority.

 

Portable Bathroom: Comfort facilities are available for all participants.

Bring along

Food and beverages are not provided so please bring your own snacks and lunches.

 

Wear solid all weather outdoor shoes/boots (sneakers are not recommended) and warm all weather clothing including a hat.

 

Pricing & terms

Transport is not provided.

The minimum group size is 15, maximum 25.

The event price is €3,500 (payment to be made at least 2 weeks in advance of event).
